From My Inbox : JUST A MUM ?

A woman, renewing her driver's license at the Motor Registration office, was asked by the counter clerk to state her occupation. She hesitated, uncertain how to classify herself.

"What I mean is," explained the counter clerk,
"do you have a job or are you just a ..?"
"Of course I have a job," snapped the woman.
"I'm a Mum."
"We don't list 'Mum' as an occupation, 'housewife' covers it," Said the clerk emphatically.

I forgot all about her story until one day I found myself in the same situation, this time at our own Medicare office.

The Clerk was obviously a career woman, poised, efficient, and possessed of a high sounding title like, "Official Interrogator" or "Town Registrar."

"What is your occupation?" she probed.

What made me say it? I do not know. The words simply popped out.

"I'm a Research Associate in the field of Child Development and Human Relations."

The clerk paused, ball-point pen frozen in midair and looked up as though she had not heard right. I repeated the title slowly emphasizing the most significant words. Then I stared with wonder as my pronouncement was written, in bold, black ink on the official questionnaire.

"Might I ask," said the clerk with new interest,
"just what you do in your field?"

Coolly, without any trace of fluster in my voice, I heard myself reply,

"I have a continuing program of research, (what mother doesn't) In the laboratory and in the field, (normally I would have said indoors and out). I'm working for my Masters, (first the Lord and then the whole family) and already have four credits (all daughters). Of course, the job is one of the most demanding in the humanities, (any mother care to disagree?) and I often work 14 hours a day, (24 is more like it). But the job is more challenging than most run-of-the-mill careers and the rewards are more of a satisfaction rather than just money."
There was an increasing note of respect in the clerk's voice as she completed the form, stood up, and personally ushered me to the door. As I drove into our driveway, buoyed up by my glamorous new career, I was greeted by my lab assistants -- ages 13, 7, and 3. Upstairs I could hear our new experimental model, (a 6 month old baby) in the child development program,
testing out a new vocal pattern.

I felt I had scored a beat on bureaucracy! And I had gone on the official records as someone more distinguished and indispensable to mankind than "just another Mum."

Motherhood ! What a glorious career !

Especially when there's a title on the door.

Does this make grandmothers
"Senior Research associates in the field of
Child Development and Human Relations"

And great grandmothers
"Executive Senior Research Associates?"
I think so!!!

I also think it makes Aunts
"Associate Research Assistants."

The Barney Phase

My little girl is now having her Barney phase, just to capture the moment. I bought that after she kept on pointing to Barney's item wherever we went. And she knows what she really want. Lately, that very gay-colored Barney keeps her company. BTW, we never exposed her to Barney stuffs not even in ASTRO.

I love you
You love me
We're a happy family
With a great big hug
And a kiss from me to you
Won't you say you love me too?

I love you
You love me
We're best friends
Like friends should be
With a great big hug
And a kiss from me to you
Won't you say you love me too?

Sidetrack : Adan & Along phrase >> kecik kenot , si kecik Hannah,

Autobots, move out !!

And now, since the fever is no longer there, it's quite easy to get your hands on the Autobots. Adan (and Babah) is now a proud owner of these new bots.

Note : I still heart Bumblebee as a VW

No. 1

Peterbilt truck

Transforming...

THE OPTIMUS PRIME

No. 2

Chevrolet Camaro

Flexing...

BUMBLEBEE

I'm amazed with the flexibility of these models, you can tweak, pop, and make a funny pose with it. I can't say no to this. So Adan can smile for we have so many others to be included in.

However we are not a die hard collecter who will frame and label this item as 'untouchable'. These robots can be seen anywhere, under the bed, on top of shoe rack and in my kitchen in many poses. Bumblebee always end up terkangkang due to its wheelie feet. Starscream lost his missiles once too many times, he lost the tail as well. And all of it have suffered few horrific crashes courtesy of Hannah.

Decepticons, attack!

Adan's 1st robot, a Decepticon, bought way back in Sept'07. No Autobots available since they were hot item at that time.

One Messy House

Those who are regular at our house will notice that the kids have load and load of toys. Recently I've sorted out some which they rarely played with and put it in boxes to be set aside. And that boxes remain there.

So what I had in mind is to sort it again and give it to rumah anak yatim around Gombak. Especially those yang ada baby & toddler since they are the one who will benefit most. Gradually, I will try to make it as a family affair so my kids will realise how lucky they are to have what they have now.

I'm putting it in here so that, if you think you wanna join me we can make this a success.
BTW, Hannah loves Lego very much, she can build her own blocks now but until she's big enough, we'll only buy Duplo series.

Memory Lane : Kertas Jawapan

Agak2...korang ingat lagi tak kertas ni ?? Haha I found this while doing some housekeeping. How I treasure those moments. I think I smuggled this out from the exam hall after the last paper. Network kot...

I should whack that paper on somebody's head because I used that to do some camourflage. That somebody copied my answers while me playing innocent and this paper help me in the process...I'm quite good at that.

For those who forgot, that 'D' alphabet is to avoid prepared answers being taken into exam hall, so every session, answer sheets with different alphabet will be distributed.

My posting will double when I have too many things to handle. I need a break. So, from time to time I will do some walking-down-memory-lane entry.

Her0es

Both me & hubby got hooked to the newly-arrived-on-our-shore-TV-show, Her0es. We're almost finish, both seasons. Almost because we don't know where the heck is Episode 11 of the 2nd season. I should be getting a copy of it by next week, thanx to tukang download. TV is now showing Season 1 while Astro is showing Season 2, not sure which episode.

Aiyooo... btw, Season 2 was cut short due to the writer's strike in Hollywood so that's why there's only 11 episode compared to 22 for 1st one. So now that the strike was officially over, we can expect it to be aired full blast and with new superheroes. Will Niki survive the explosion ? But I really hope (pray pray) that they will expand West so he get more screen. That was damn sweetest smile.

But the real thing that got me glued is this...swoooooooooon, Peter Petrell1 a.k.a Mil0 Vent1migli@

My Milo (ais??)...he's not THAT hunky, macho kind during Gilmore Girls time. But now..especially 2nd Season with the new haircut. Mmm

The fact that now he's really dating the superheroine Hayden (Claire in the series) add another notch to his hotness. In 1st Season, when Claire & his father went to thanx Peter after he saved her life, I was hoping that they will be made a couple, but my hope dashed the moment they revealed that Nathan (Peter's bro) is Claire's daddy. That make them a family, Peter now is her uncle. Cessssss potong stim. Anyway...

Book : P.S. I Love You

I've caught some Valentine virus and end up reading this chic lit in between tasks.

Don't read this in public, you'll cry, laugh and chuckles many times all the way till the last page. As usual, my bad habit is that I can't stop reading until I finish the whole book, 500 pages? Not a problem. I've spent many many sleepless nights just to finish books that I was reading. Else, I can't focus on other things haha

I'm not good in doing book review like Dd but I enjoyed this book very much. This book made me realised how much I love my dear Hubby. Ayang, I LOVE YOU.

It tells a story about perfectly happy married couple, Holly & Gerry. She lost him to a brain tumor when he's only 30, without child. The shocks sent her spiralling and not aware of the world around her until she received a package of letters from him. The letters, only to be opened on the 1st of every months, instructed her to do things.

The best part & funniest is when her brother disclosed her night out partying on video doing Operations Gold Curtain, and the moment they ran scampers hiding under a blanket...go read lah very funny.

However, I was a bit dissappointed with the fact that the-hunk-that-I-thought-will-be-her-new-beau, Daniel went back to his x-flame which I think very Pari$-H1lton-like That's totally squashed my fantasy of how good is this Daniel guy, bar-owner, loving, hunky. Yucks

If there will be another book based on this than the writer better make sure to include the guy with the odd green eyes or I'll burn the book !!

Things that I treasure :
+ It's ok to cry your heart out and grieve
+ It's ok to let yourself silly once in a while
+ Family & friends are the best thing that you can have around during the blackest moment though some of them might be evil & bitchy.
+ Don't save your I Love You's till tomorrow, u'll never know
And many many more

While posting this, I feel like running to hubby.

My Very First...

LEVI'S

Can u believe it, at 32 (for another 4mths hehe) I've decided that my butt deserves one. Others have loads of it for daily use and even stock on some designer brand but me, being so kedekut when it comes to my own outfit (except handbag hehe) can't take off my eyes from the price tag. Damn pricey...

However, to my humiliation, none of the ladies range can fit my thunderous thigh and I've to settle for the unisex. What a shame...need to buy belt because the waist is way too large for me. Waist size is a 'waste' thing on me...I need pants with thigh size hahaha

Progress Desa Gemilang Phase II Feb'08

Went up the hill to check on the progress.

Tiang letrik dah pacak, meter box dah pasang, switches dah install kat dinding. Meter air belum. They locked all units for safety. So we just have a peek inside.

meter air blom pasang

pink + flourescent green ??

suis sumer sudah pasang

Boleh bukak ke babah ??

Depan rumah diorang tambah mcm divider ala 'bunker'...tapi mine got 1 tiang letrik in it. Klu tanam pokok sure x lawa...but...if that is also a lamp post them I don't mind.

And this is the stupid bin compartment, memang konpem la aku hack. Apa ke hal la plak nak buang sampah kena keluar pagar. Phase 1 pun lawak gak. Comeei jek, boleh la masuk tong sampah kecik for office use kot hehe, tapi ada la pintu to access from inside..

MPS baru pacak papan peringatan reminding us that the developer had flouted few security requirement and they will not be liable on any mishaps. Mmmmm...

Yeah yeah...umah kita dah nak siap....!!
I'm not complaining (maybe I'm). Me being the buyer deserve what we paid for but we're more that grateful that we have a house to call HOME no matter how sucks the wormanship is and how long it takes to come to this level. Afterall, this is much much better than our current abode.

Another Hantaran

I am honored to be given chances to gubah some hantaran majlis tunang for sweet lady Su, my friend's younger sis. Her majlis was during CNY weekend, unfortunately I can't make it since it was held in Trg. No balik kg trip this time around.

Though it was given to me 1 week earlier, I can't do it during weekdays, so hafta wait till weekend. But still, it was hard coz dear hubby was away attending teambuilding in Club Med Cherating (envy envy) and I need to handle little soldiers on my own. So, I spent 1 sleepless night to finish it. I did it. Yayy...

Doing the ribbon flower for all items was very easy but the hard part is to transform those gifts into shapes. Klu la benda tu kertas, sure dah lunyai aku lipat, kelepet, simpul bagai hahaha. This is the ribbon flowers for all items.

I like her lapik dulang very much, ready-made so I can go easy on the hantaran itself. Suka rama-rama.... And really hope that she will like it.

Lapik dulang, sweet kan ?

Kepada cik Su yang berdarah manis, jaga diri till the BIG DAAAYYYYYY..... To her sis, Ezzah, selamat mengsponsorkan diri hahaha

Watchout !! Hiyarkhhh Hiyarkhh

Hanis very much interested in self-defense technique since she was around 4 y.0, she will go hiyarkhh here and hiyarkhh there especially after watching kungfu movies.

Last year, she begged us to let her join school's karate-do club (Sorry dear, ibu is not very fond of karate-do). So when she gave us the application form, we told her NO. This year, her perseverance continued. She shoved the same form. Again. And we said NO. Again. We told her that we're okay if it is taekwondo. Week after, she came home with yet another form. TAEKWONDO !!! Her school got that club oso ah ?? Ingatkan takde...huhu

True to our word...her dream came true (she's living my dream as well)...

Bow...Choonbi !!

Adan is keen to join, not sure whether he's really into it or simply because Along is doing it. 2nd reason is more likely hehe I can foresee myself being the umpire for 24x7 free sparring.

Down memory lane : I was only 1 step behind the black belt when $$$ forced me to abandon :(
