Raya 2007 - Terengganu

I'm back....bloating. Due to raya cookies, food with santan and fizzy drinks. I do regret that I set my digicam on a different setting compared to my usual one because I want to save the space & capture more but then I end up with a lower pixels and it doesn't look good after editing, cropping and resizing.

This year turn raya kat my kampung, Setiu tercinta.

11 Oct 2007 - Our journey went smooth. We hit Karak Highway around 5.30am and reached safely around lunch time. We stopped twice for solat and re-fuel. We had a chance to buka puasa at kampong twice. The last day of ramadhan my mom prepared my fav desserts…nekbat, served cold. Ahhh heaven.

Malam raya, we spent the night preparing the raya dishes, this year we had Nasi Minyak with gulai ayam & daging. Same day, a history created, I was left to bungkus all the ketupat daun palas on my own because the sifu need to tend to other things, patah pinggangku…malam plak, hadap lagi another batch of tapai pulut, memang cramp la vertebra2 ku ini. Blom masuk part iron baju lagik.

Pagi raya started with usual buzz and rush rush rush...Thought we can proceed with sesi posing & salam2 right after solat. Belum apa2 dah ada guest so the sesi was delayed until almost noon. Hannah and Adan lost the raya zest oredi. All the little girls decided to wear a tudung. I bought 1 for Hanis to match mine in case she throws tantrum, true enough, she insisted on it. So, no ponytail or ribbon for 2 consecutive rayas. Penat ibu beli mcm2 hair accessories.

We had fun and Hannah had fun smooching everybody. Hahaha she's now having a salam & smooching phase !! So enjoy some raya pic here…the rest, u have to visit my raya entry in fotopages (if I have enough time...later hehe)

On the 4th raya, we continued with the almost-‘pupus’ed-tradition. We did this almost every year when I was still single. So this is the 1st time for hubby. We tried using the ready-made rempah bought from pasar nearby. Not so nice, so we have to blend our secret recipe hehe. So meriah and the night was spent eating and what else..main mercun la…all in all we ‘burned’ more than RM300++ worth of firecrackers…Next year we need to buy the KLCC battery one lah. Dam dam dum kaboooom

5th day, we have to come back to KL, so that we can have ample break before the normal routines started. But to tell you the truth…it’s never enough. By Sunday I have yet to finish some of my to-do list.

Salam Aidilfitri dari Kami Sekeluarga

Maaf Zahir dan Batin

Baru je rasa raya (that's last year pic), Hannah is now ready to run, Hanis getting slimmer and Adan is about to gain some weight. We too had shrinked lalalalala (only to gain more after raya food fiesta).

For those who balik kampung, have a safe journey and may you have a joyous celebration. Have a good break everyone. We'll start our journey to Tranung tomorrow, very very early in the morning. Gonna have early sahur and zooooooooom...

I'll be back in blogworld after I finish my pineapple tarts...with raya piccas of coz.

I Wi$h The$e are MINE

On my table this morning.

Alas, it's not mine and it's in small denomination, RM1-RM10 notes. In total RM9k. Ready to be distributed to my sedare mare, jiran jemiran.

Working in organisation that 'chop the duit', i have to live to my reputation of being one. hehhe. So...now I'm showing you the money...I can smell the money...loveleh...

Buka @ Yankies Hut, Bangi (06.10.07)

Last Saturday, we rushed to Bangi, arrived on the dot, by the time we picked our seats, Azan berkumandang. Hehe

We're not alone, that was another re-union gathering, hubby's batch, held almost every year. They're my friends as well. Last year, we had it at The Zone. Yankies was not so peaceful anymore with all those kepala gila2, gelak ketawa x hengat donia.

I was so busy eating and catching my daughter. So, pics very limited and not of a very good quality either. Upload sajaa....

z

For RM15 buffet I can easily say it's better than Eden in terms of TASTE. Yankies whipped almost 15 dishes !! Ambience and surrounding x leh compare la kan ?? But both served air sirap ngan biji selasih except that we had it in polysterene cups.

After iftar, we went to Kajang and lepak for another hour. Sempat tapau Briyani Gam Johor depan Giant. Sounds familiar, Dd?

My Sparkles Project

Bertemankan my ever so loyal Pensonic oven, I made MY OWN kuih raya in MY KITCHEN this year. It's not that I never made any before, but all this while, me my MIL & SIL will do it together at their house and using Europa oven. We'll berkampung during weekend and make all the kuih 'wajib'...baulu, makmur, mazola, loyang.

This year, tgn aku gatal nak buat sendiri. Imagine having to rush ke depan belakang sbb nursing anak dara sorang tu. Patah pinggang aku...dah la risau takut tertido sama, mau berasap oven 'canggih' aku tu.

It took me few days (night shift ma...) to finish it off in stages, I still have 1 full container of the cookies. I made the cookies on Sunday, and last night I worked on the topping, I went to bed after 4am only to finish HALF of it. Yang, thanx for shredding the choc bar.

Presenting to you...my Havana Sparkles

Monday 8 October 2007

And now...the hampers

Aiyoh ayang...got vacancy ah in your company ?

Hubby received these hampers from his colleague. So nice n cute n bla bla.

The one in green basket contain 3 jars of cookies, Ferrero Rocher, Hershey Kisses, dates wit nuts and bla bla bla. Yg tak tahan ada teddy bear and a bouquet on the other side. Memang isi penuh2 punya hamper

The one with oh so gorgeous wrapping and boxes has got some dried fruits (dates, apricots and berries) as well as some baklavas. Rasanya packaging cost even more than the contents. Got bakul oso but not included in my 'photoshoot' :D

Anyways...thanx to his opismate, you made ME happy, on his behalf.

Kuih Raya Segera

I don't know whether this one deserves a title of 'kuih' or not because it is so simple and the only time you hit the stove is to melt the butter.

So, here is my 1st kuih raya, Cornflake Madu. Adan helped me to line the papercups, while Hanis offered to work on the 1st tray. Then I was left to do it on my own huwaaaa... masa nak buat beriya kata nak tolong.

Hannah made it worst, I was about to start filling up the rest when she woke up and wailed, apalagi..nak nenen la. Kalau baring konpem aku pun 'jalan' skali, so I was left with 1 hand and another 10kg on the other while she nursed and s*cked on me, all the way for almost 2 hours. I dare not unlatch her and risk my n*ppIe. Great.

The New Breed - J.Co Donuts

The kids love donuts. We usually get our donuts from Dunkin Donuts (where else ?). However I can see that we will contribute less to Dunkin's profit from now on.

About a week ago, hubby bought these from J.Co Donuts & Coffee. He think it will be a hit. Anything chocolate will surely win the kid's heart. The one with mocha topping was not a winner. Tiramisu filling. No thank you. Sorry, sempat snap yg dah kena wallop jek.

So yesterday, we went there again to get another batch. Bought the one with choc topping & filling Coco Loco, Alcapone, Glazzy, Snow,White, Why Nut bla bla.

Compared to Dunkin :
  • Donuts were freshly made in the outlet, you can see them in action while Q-ing
  • They're not American hehe Indon mari, all the workers are also Indon, not the construction-worker-look though
  • Moist choc topping, not crusty. So, ibu-ibu sila standby wet tissue and extra shirts.
  • Only 1 outlet for the time being (Pavillion), soon will be in Sunway.
  • Price-wise about the same
  • No 'minyak-sapi' taste (susah nak explain)
  • It's fluffy

Buka @ EDEN

Went to buka puasa buffet @ EDEN yesterday, despite being skeptical whether we can handle the kids or not. Surprisingly, it went smoothly I can say eventhough there's a few jelingan mauts and warnings flew once in a while. But Hannah was exceptionally good. She sort of 'stuck' on her baby-chair and simply nyum nyum and nyum. Sampaikan those on next table pun wonder how much she can eat.

We placed our booking earlier on. Left the house at 6.15 and reached the place around 7pm. We were given a good spot and what a huge table....can easily fit 7-8 adults. The crowd was ok but with typical attitude. Finish off everything on buffet table and let it go to waste haiyaaa. Babah & kids went for their share first. I had mine after azan, and what a surprise...the dessert section was EMPTY. They did replenish afterward (except for satay) but it shouldn't happened.

All in all :

Food : bolehla, ye ke ?? dessert ala2 disaster.
Ambience : good, relax, no kelam-kabutness sighted. Manageable crowd
Service : Very good
Price : @50++ (one of the cheapest)
Recommendation : Klu saja2 nak tukar angin mcm kami then ok la, but if you go for the food I don't think so.

We then ventured into the newly opened Pavillion to get some donuts. x banyak pun kedai bukak. I don't think I'll be comfortable in there. A VERY HIGH END crowd and shops. Intimidating.
