GC Trip - DIY style

I'd better put everything in 1 page, so u might want to read the story first before reading the tips as I kept on dropping tips and hints in all those entries.

Day 6 to 8 : 18 - 20 June 2009 (Thu - Sat)

******NEWLY ADDED***********
Clothing for winter : GC winter is not that cold. As you can see from my pictures, we just had our long sleeve on during the day. However night can be quite chilly. So make sure you bring a jacket.
Jeans jacket is just fine. No need all those thermal type..
Closed shoe like sneakers & boots are advisable
Socks compulsory
Beanies or snow cap also needed
Thin gloves for the little ones, their fingers are too tiny to handle the chilly weather
********************************

Janji manis dah jadik payau...so here goes the tips for GC trip DIY-way or my way...

I wasted almost 10 years thinking that I can't afford overseas holiday. It seems so out of reach until my SIL went for Europe trip. When she came back, she mentioned about MAS offer to Brisbane in June'09. So we decided, what the heck..just go !! That was in Nov'08..so we got 6mths to 'menabung ayam', plan and proceed with all the bookings.
I'll show you how I did it step by step.
First and foremost,

  1. Subscribe to broadband - u gonna spend a lot of time surfing and searching

  2. Install Google Earth(GE) - very important to locate hotel & places and map for self-drive trip

  3. Set the rough budget - we're lucky coz the exc. rate only 2.4 in early 2009, it was 2.7 when we were there. Now i think more than 3.0 (Money changer yg ok, kat MValley : Wawasan, seblah KFC and SF Coffee tu, area Sg Wang pun ok, byk kedai.. just compare jek)
Paling penting...silalah rajin godek en Gugel dan stalk segala blog & fotopages org2 yg penah pegi sana sbb kat situ lah dapat tips, do's and donts yg lagi bagus. Contoh dia blog aku ni lah wakakaka...Part ni aku nak termuntah siriyes, esp nak tunggu FP load pergh cabaran...sbbnya aku terjah segala blog org dulu before plan itinerary aku...you'll get the idea to guide you...itinerary ni pada aku penting but always allow flexibility

WEATHER / LOCAL INFORMATION

Start with some info of the places that you want to go : the weather, local holidays, big sales :P bla bla

Summer - December to February
Autumn - March to May
Winter - June to August
Spring - September to November

We're lucky coz the cheap flight that we got was in winter (13 - 21 June). No snow in GC, but it can be wet and chilly. So avoid early winter as they normally hit by flood. 3 weeks before our trip Surfers Paradise was closed for public and there's a death case due to strong wind. I would not plan my trip in summer as their sunlight can be very damaging, even in winter, we almost got burned by their midday sun. As usual, each season got its own pro and cons, winter means u gonna need jacket and socks which will be a burden to ur luggage while summer with kids can be less enjoyable coz kids tend to get cranky when they sweat and hot. So plan your timing carefully. btw, I managed to catch mid-year aka winter sale..marbeles. Someone will update on how it looks like in spring :)

FLIGHT

Bila dh bajet nak pegi bila tu, rajin2kan diri book tiket masa sale, based on trend, AA will announce 1st followed by MAS. Sometimes MAS fare much2 cheaper than AA, dah la inclusive of meal + free 1st 20kg. MAS has no direct flight to GC Airport (Coolangatta), only AA flies direct to GC. MAS flight to Brisbane will transit in Sydney for 1.5hr, nampak mcm lama tapi by the time korang clear the security, u got enough time just to browse thru kedai2 dlm airport tu je.

Takpun ko belasah jek beli tiket masa zero fare or offer gila murahan pastu baru google info tpt tuh hahaha lagi thrill..Flight tickets to Brisbane x 6 = RM 9k++ (I know it's not cheap, but still cheaper than their normal rate)

ACCOMMODATION

As our group comprised 3 adults and 3 kids we had no choice but to rent bigger place instead of hotel. This part really cracked me up coz everybody recommended places they have stayed before. And there's load of hotels when you google. Information overloaded. That's when GE came to my rescue, bila dpt rate yg ok, we zoomed to the place tgk exact location of the hotel. Guiding principle hahaha lama dah aku nak guna ayat ni..o ok sorry distracted jap :

  • we wanted to stay close to the centre of GC i.e. Cavill Avenue. Walking distance so we need not to drive to town and suffer the parking fee. We focused on hotels around Surfers suburb (Broadbench and Broadwater area oso ok tapi gotta drive klu nak gi area yg happening kat Surfers tu)

  • must be self-contained (furnished) - coz I need to prepare breakfast and snack to tapau while getting the real food. Kids won't understand 'pkl 5 kita gi makan' or 'blom jumpa kedai yg boleh order makan'. When they're hungry the ARE hungry.

  • Same for Brisbane city, self-contained, walking distance to town (+ free loop shuttle) and cheap (sgt mahal woo rent a place kat sini) - I won't recommend our rented place :(
If you are going in lesser number without kids then I would suggest to get a room instead of apartment which definitely will cost u more. Places which I think are good in terms of location and rate : Islander, Promenade.

Sites to help you with the accommodation:

http://www.goldcoastinfolink.com/
(can choose based on location or type of accommodation)

GC : Surfer's Mayfair self-contained 3-rooms apartment x 5D4N = AUD750
Brisbane : Centrepoint self-contained 3-rooms apartment x 3D2N = AUD330 (not recommended)

TRANSPORT

By the time you booked your accomodation, I'm sure you already had the idea on whether it's gonna be self-drive trip or public transport. We decided to rent a car as we planned to carry 2 strollers and it will cost us more if we were to use the public transport. So leceh, imagine if it rains or your kids buat perangai and to drag the strollers (and shopping bags!!) in & out of bus. No thank you..

I googled all the car rental sites, both international and local only to realise that we can't rent a car but an MPV !! Car max passenger = 5. I would advise you to rent from the top 5 car rental co. Try not to use local, not to say bad things but after reading all reviews I wouldn't trust my credit card to be handled by them. The longer the rental period, it gets cheaper. You can rent and return at 2 different places. I think it's best to opt for full-tank instead of petrol voucher, you just need to fill-up before returning it.

Oh..it's right-hand driving with good road condition and signboard. Strict rules - seat belt, child seat, speeding. So be careful, if you were caught they will send the ticket to the car rental company and they will charge to your CC plus admin fee.

Get the best price from them

We rented from Hertz KL, visited their booth during MATTA Fair in March and got special rate. Pickup point : GC office and Return point : Brisbane Airport.

Oww..almost forgot, airport transfer. Since we landed in Brisbane, like 80km away from GC and it's midnight, we took shuttle from http://www.con-x-ion.com/

Car rent from Hertz x 7 days = AUD550 - via web..the best rate AUD650 - 700
Airport Transfer Brisbane to GC x 5 = AUD170

For those who wanted to use public transport can check this site or from Viator ambik pakej based on your need. Seshuai utk bujang2an or couple berdua2an or those dgn anak2 yg dh besar, tapi kalau ramai baik rent jek. Renting a small car is not a bad idea as it's quite cheap and you get the freedom to plan your journey.

GugelEarth allows you to print the direction. It is almost 100% accurate unless there's a recent road closure, else just follow the direction. Aku siap dpt direction sampai depan pintu rumah kawan aku. I loiikeee BTW...korang tau kan cemana nak pakai menatang GE ni kan ? Direction dia siap ada jarak so ko bajet je la, aku siap soh Man trip meter wakakak dah ala2 treasure hunt gitu..agak2 mcm jauh melampau go & start over again tapi based on our exp. Google map + signboard = perfect record.

Tapi klu ko buat utk M'sia punya location aku rasa memang sesat barat. Masa gi KK, awal2 aku buang direction yg aku print lps compare map kat airport and true enuff abg kete sewa ckp sape yg pakai GPS memang sesat hahaha

PLACES TO GO

There are a LOTTTTTTTTTs of places TO GO and things TO DO in GC, some only applicable during certain seasons but what is GC trip if not for its theme parks. Mak nak muntah nyah baca segala benda just to decide park mana worth to go. In the end we decided to pick top 3 i.e. Movie World, Dream World and Sea World.

These parks have few passes which offered discounted entry fee. I would recommend the 2 park Escape Pass (2 parks in 3 days) for MW and SW. That will save you a few hundreds RM if you go in bigger group. There are 2 water parks which I think should be skipped as it is just a grandiose version of Sunway Lagoon. Balik main kat Bukit Gambang lagi bagus..

Our plan : 1 day 1 park 1Malaysia. And that was exactly what we did. But it also depends on your group, some may just want to tour the place without trying the rides, yg x de anak would skip kid's zone. So it might not take 1 day for you.

Some of things worth to do in GC provided you have time & $$$

Theme parks
Whale watching
Jungle tracking
Glitter worm
Catch crab
Beach surfing
Aquaduck
Q-Deck viewing
Currumbin

Dream World entry fee x 5 x 50%(staff rebate) = AUD 150
2 Park Escape Pass x 5 = AUD507

In Brisbane, the only place that we had to pay was Lone Pine Sanctuary. Lupa dah baper AUD15 kot

PLACES TO VISIT IN BRISBANE

Queen St
Museum & Library
Lone Pine Sanctuary
Any of you friend's house coz there's a few Uni There (Zuki's there)

Or if you got enuff time you can go up north to Sunshine Coast..where else..Australia Zoo managed by the late Steve Irwin's family...crikeeeeeeeyyy

PASSPORT / VISA

Tak guna korang buat mende2 kat atas kalau tak buat yang ni. So pastikan passport2 anda masih panjang jangkahayatnya, jgn kira masa beli tiket kira expiry masa nak travel, maklum la now tiket flight leh beli awal setahun..tak gitu ?...so make sure more than 6 months before expiry.

Anak-anak yang belum ada passport tu leh la gi buat, 1/2 price aje. Jgn buat dekat Pusat Bandar. Gi yg Putrajaya or Subang Terminal.

Citer visa pulak, ni takyah nak apply awal sgt, we applied our like 2 weeks before departure via Australian Embassy (SIL yg rajin nak pi buat) or just do it online at, it's called Electronic Travel Authority (ETA). AUD 20 each. Print the damn stuff and attach to your passport. Very Very Super Important hokeh !!

HOW TO PACK ITEM'S TO BE DECLARED

Custom requirement do's and don'ts + barang2 yang kena declare : Leh check sini...aku bwk benda2 ni sbb aku kan duk apartment. If you plan to buy your meals throughout your stay then tak yah risau, sedia je lah duitnya.

Not OK : Dairy stuffs (termasuk coklat Cadbury ye), Milo, Nescafe 3in1 (other brands as well), beras, seeds (sup bunjut), buah-buahan (sbb seeds jugak)
OK : Maggi, sos cili (sana fish&chip tadak sos babe), susu formula, sambal ikan bilis, serunding (pack nicely lah)
50-50 : Campbell's soup, Maggi kari. Tgk hari..klu mood depa ok lepas else dush!! dlm dustbin

I brought : Maggi Tomyam 5's, Indomee 5's, Cambell's powder, Kimball Chilli sauce, Pediasure 900g, McD sachets of salt+pepper, perencah nasi goreng adabi. No worries lah, there's supermarket everywhere to buy anything you need : Coles & Woolworth (i love their green-bag esp the insulated one). We made few trips to buy groceries & fruits.

I've prepared and separated all those stuffs in 1 luggage, so I don't have to open beg baju-bajan. If you bring any 'declarable' item, the moment you Q-up to check your luggage, inform the officer that you have something to declare. He will lead your to a counter. That way, you won't need to use the scanner orrr being sniffed by that humongous dog.

Careful for parents : Do not put any fruits (esp. banana) in your kid's bag prior to traveling, the smell will stay for a few days and the dog will definitely grab it and you'll be asked to open up your luggage there and then..not me, read it from other people's blog.

The kiasu-ness in me made me put my stuffs in zipper bag and labeled. I even have a checklist of item to declare which I gave to the officer. None of my stuffs was thrown.
MEDICATION
If you need to bring prescribed medication (esp for kids), make sure you get a support letter and new supply (unopened) from your doctor. Each medication should be clearly prescribed in the letter and the label on the bottles should carry your kid's name. I put everything in 1 zipper bag, labeled as 'Prescribed Medication - Haniff', 'Over the counter medication'. Over kah aku ? Malas nak bergaduh ngan depa la..they're the strictest officer when it comes to foodstuffs.
SOUVENIRS

Fridge magnet sgt byk ada yg 3 for 10, 5 for 10, so pandai2la pilih. Sapa suka makan Nougat pun leh la beli tapi klu beg berat beli kat Langkawi pun murah. Lain2..mmmmm wallet/purse kulit kangaroo.

Mana nak beli ?

Kedai owned by Malaysian - Royal Gift Shop kat Surfer's Boulevard, Kalau jumpa restoran Maharan1, kedai ni area2 situ la, opposite. T-shirt2 dia antara yg lawa la kat sini and binatang2 kecik tu pun mmmg x leh lwn harga kedai ni. AUD2 je kot for 1 pack. Harga dia bagi diskaun lagi, bargain jek. We bought most of our souvenirs from this shop...the whole row of shops dekat area situ mmg owned by Malaysian including few restaurants. Islander Hotel area sini so kalau nak makan & shop mmg convenient.

Carrara Market - not much to buy but worth to go and browse.

Lain2 souvenir adalah dari theme park...mabuk weh, sib baik bila tgk harga laju jek kepala aku convert jadik RM, so insap la sikit kan hahaha. Theme park aku rasa berbaloi beli keychain, cantik...harga pun chanteekkk dlm AUD8. Dan juga shopping bagnya @ AUD2, dan juga fridge magnetnya dan juga hahahaha

Rabu malam ada night market along Surfers beachfront, mostly local made crafts. Nice but damn expensive.

SHOPPING

We went to 2 outlets. Harbour Town in GC and DFO in Brisbane.

Harbour Town go for : Canterbury, Esprit, POLO, Pumpkin Patch, Crabtree & Evelyn, beachwear (Roxy, Billabong, Rip Curl, Quicksilver). Nike & Adidas were not that interesting. Tourist discount card is not that good so don't bother..
DFO : Corelle, Pyrex, Visions (all super cheap), the same beachwear brand

We skipped 1 shopping complex, Pacific, yg very close to town due to time factor. Some said perfume oso worth to buy, me donno.

MAKAN ??

Halal food is everywhere, you can always find one in every ceruk, even surau available in shopping areas. Get the list for makan places from http://www.zabihah.com/

Almost all Nando's in Brisbane and GC are halal except the one in GC town itself. We were told by the staff that their chicken is halal but they cook it with ham. We had our meals from Ali Baba Kebab, Aspa Kebab, Maharani, Ballady middle east (yg kami makan sakan tu). In between we bought fish&chip + hot choc from any shops that kami rasa tak was-was. Penting tu...

I think, by now Sea World and Movie World had already imposed rule that no outside food is allowed into the park except baby food. Masa kami pegi depa baru announce jek.

Apalagi apalagi ?
Mak pengsan dulu ye nyah....gedebuk !!

Yang kelakarnya, masa beli tiket mcm excited gila nak gi KK tapi makin dekat hari rasa agak kureng excitednya sbb bajet ngam2 hahaha. Tau je la kan kalau renovate rumah abih segala tabung ayam tabung gajah kena korek...bukan takde langsung cuma kena ada buffer la kan for emergency. Untouchable fund.

Tapi..apa kes nak waste the cheap ticket kan ? So the traveler-in-me only woke up about 1 week before the departure. Time tu la kelam kabut nak google mana nak pegi, sib baik awal2 dh baca blog Dd and dah tanya dia sikit2 before. Thanx babe

That was roughly how it went. When traveling with kids you gotta be flexible to accomodate their mood. When they are tired, they are tired. Always be prepared to revise your journey and don't feel obliged to go to places just because other people said it is a must-go-places. It's your journey..

It's not hard to get her to do breakfast, she loves breakfast

My little ladies striking a pose
Rare moment for Ibu and babah, just the 2 of us
Hannah singing 'Jambatan si Tamparuli...'
Brief stop at Kinabalu Pine, just for the view
Captured with Adan
Time's up..let's go back to KK town
Hanis tried her hand on macro shot, good one dear...
While waiting for check-in arrangement, peach tea & hot towel ...aaaa
The room before extra bed was plopped in
Hanis & Hannah pilih key-chain utk kawan2. Hannah ? Beli keychain ?
Di tepi pantai yang indaahhh

Check out pictures from my FB album.

With that, we can proudly declare that we had been to all the local destinations, at least their main cities.

But we'll definetly be back for another 2 trips. To spend our time relaxing in Karambuna1 and the last to lepak in Manukan Res0rt so that babah can go crazy diving with the sharks and whateva creatures while me can stroll the beach in my bikini wakakaka...

Until next entry...red wedges checking out..........

Do it while you can...

Do what ?

Update blog ler...

Ekceli bukan aku takde brokbeng, adaaaa...manjang dpt HSDPA lps aku barter trade ngan SIL, dia pakai aku nyer Max1s. Cuma aku x sempat nak duk bersimpuh reka ayat or mengedit gambar2...blog ni klu ko dh pencen sekejap punya la payah nak start balik...

So sementara aku ada masa ni baik update apa yg patut.

Baru lps packing nk fly to KK esok. Our 1st trip to the Land Beneath the Wind for 5D4N. The trip will start quite early coz we planned to hop on LRT to Sentral and board the Skybus to LCCT. Gonna have lunch over there (dgn harapan kanak2 tidak mengorder food di awan biru, walopon chances agak tipis haha) before boarding.

We rented Saga BLM @rm100/day from BNM KK staff, he'll pick and send us off to the airport. 1st night gotta lepak in Pacific Sutera coz it's too late to drive to Kundasang, 2nd night in Kinabalu Pine and the other 2 nights in Magellan Sutera. Hope all went well. We skipped Nexus & Manukan coz I think both worth an exclusive visit. A brief stay won't be enough. So anybody want to join us and get to stay at the hotels at a discounted rate ?

Allright...update on what happened last weekend.

Nothing much hehe

Except for acara sukan tahunan sekolah on Sunday. Kali ni ibu ada geng, Cikgu Hasni pagi2 suda tunggu dekat padang dgn Hannah mau tunggu acara..apa ek ? baling pundi kacang ? ke bawak pundi kacang ? ada lupa jugaa...

Hanis participated in 4 x200m and they begged the 3rd place. Acara dah buat siap2 on Friday..hmm not bad. Sentimental event for babah..he was a runner for the same event satu ketika dolu...

On Sunday all she need to do just KAWAD KAKI for PBSM...umang aiii panas mak oiii.......Hanis pun sama garing..mana taknya berlatih dari bulan Jan..tgh panas rembang...

Most of the pictures were already loaded up in my FB album yang bertajuk Anak2..Mari Bersokan

Some other pix not uploaded in FB, hehe inilah budak manja nih...8 tahun duk berdokong lagi...

Seblom bersurai haruslah acara berposing bersama keluarga, pose wajib...sebagai tanda ibu & babah menyokong xtvt GERko ke KOKO..apa2lah..

Masa ni tak tau lawak apa Eline buat sampai Hanis gelak besar sambil menayangkan gigi taring berlapis dan gigi kapak besar hasil genetik ibu !

Signing off...ready to shut my eyes and wake up to the more exciting days ahead. Have a nive weekend everyone...

Me got NO BROKBENG KONEKSION

Selepas waktu pejabat.

Gold Coast 2009 : Day 6-8 (18-20 June 2009)

Finally...I managed to capture some of our memories in Semenanjung Emas, Ostolia, here posted on the net for the kids to have a peek when they are older (they ajek yg older..not we..haha x sedo diri kah ?).

This entry is a combo of 3 days that we spent in the city of Brisbane. It's never enough time to explore..but it's worth it.

18 June 2009 (Thu)

Checked-out from our temp-home @ Surfer's Mayfair. snap here and there...bubye unit 44. That's Nerang River at the back, we had both sea & riverview from the balcony

Magnificient blue sky welcomed us at the beach...we still got our jacket on when others were on their shorts & bikinis hehe kejakunan yg amat nyata. We hadn't had a chance to stroll on the beach holding hands and all those kekonon romantic stuffs as we exhausted our 'battery' on the themeparks.

Tak puas ambik gambar kat sini but we had to make a move to another important stopover that is :)

Why ? Coz I need to exchange a super-cute boots that was too small to last at least for another 6 months. We read about the bad news in the local newspaper night before while waiting for our hot choc and I prayed..pls pls..not pumpkin patch pls...Alas...my prayer was not answered and Pumpkin Patch outlet was closed due to fire. Huhu. Had our lunch 1st as usual Ispa kebab and few bananas as requested by the kids. Pisangnya sgt menggiurkan sbb kulit tulus mulus, licin gebu, takde injury langsung..mak suke nyah !!

Done with our last minute shopping, I bought 2 Espr1t jeans at AUD19 and few bajus for my siblings only.

We took Pacific Highway to BNE quite late and it was sorta mistake coz we had no idea where the hell is our apartment in CentrePoint @ SpringHill. True enuff, we circled the same road and junction but failed to find the small road leading to our apartment. Once, we even steered back into the hi-way. Temper almost flared until I took over being a map reader and use the main map when I finally managed to squint my eyes and noticed a very fade arrows on each street which were not shown on my other map (mommy sit at the back with the kids). Tu la, pakai lagi different version and my peta-gugel failed sbb ada new road closure.

Problem solved and we checked-in around 8pm, given unit no 43, 3-rooms apartment. Very old place, you could smell the damp air, all 80-an punya style except the bathroom as always...super-clean. Still, I won't recommend this place.

Hannah needed a first-aid, she got itchy bontot due to damp-diaper that we put on, in-case she need to do her business while were are on the road, but she didn't pee or poo on it.

We axed all our plan for the night i.e. to visit the South Bank and view the city at night, instead I made dinner, very domestic me. Before we went to bed we decided that Lone Pine trip should be by Tarago as via ferry will cost us a bomb and time taken gonna be longer to & fro.

19 June 2009 (Fri)

Lone Pine Sanctuary is a farm. That's all. We expected more, nevertheless we had a blast there as we were chased by a famished emu, as well as got a chance to see the Red Kangaroo, melihat anjing ladang mengejar biri2 masuk kandang jua. We took photos with cute koala which were ready for collection within 10-20 minutes. Koala adalah cute tapi pungkoq smelly... haha

You are allowed to snap as many pix using your own camera as long as you purchased the package. We had the original photo ready to be framed (but not framed yet haha typical me)

We spent 1/2 day there and rushed back to our apartment to change, solat & park our ride. City parking is damn expensive like AUD8/hour

Sedang menunggu bas percuma di depan Roma House, aku rasa mcm pernah ternampak bendalah ni, so apa2hal soh bdk2 pose dulu, later balik KL baru gugel..oooo ni community service punya rumah utk homeless located in a heritage-listed site.

We axed our plan for Story Bridge coz it's a bit out of town. We took the free-loop bus to the city which is only 10mins away. Ignored the temptation of Queen St malls and crossed the Victoria Bridge so the kids had a chance to be in Q'land Museum, it's free, it huge and it's amazing. Tho it was only for a brief moment as we had less than 30min before closing, that's enuff to make them glowed and awed...add in your itinerary esp. if u have kids.

In the middle of the earth Queen St, one of the most popular meeting point. Ramai budak skolah time ni, tu haa yg blazer merah2 tu...tgh janji nak dating awek kot.

Too late for library sneak peek (in picture, on the right, the green wall is the library), next time ya kiddos...We took our time to enjoy the city view from across the bridge at Southbank. Let the kids to release their 'steam', golek2 santai..best gile time ni, mmg cool abis until babah mentioned 'lapar'.

Lupa nak cite we lost our list of restaurants so had to sms our BIL, Apiz to gugel. I love technology...we had our dinner at Satay Club Noodle House in Charlotte St. Yummy food, fresh seafood ingredients. Cuma terkejut karna tomyam itu ada button mushroom. Our re-charge meal.

Full tummy won't take you too far. Surprisingly we spent very little time browsing the Queen St. Surprise! surprise! I didn't even step into Myer Centre. Sangkut and went crazy for Cr0cs sale only...the rest were too expensive. We either foolishly or brave-ly decided to walk our feet back to SpringHill which is so close yet so far, as the name already suggested it's location. Putus napas ku and terasa seperti summer di dadaku kerana kami tidak berstroller...tukar ganti dokong Hannah & worst, Adan. Acara dokong & daki namanya...oksigen oksigen...

When everyone were fast asleep mommy went sleepless. Packing time !! I used all my intelligent cells in my brain to slot everything in. Yeah...I'm proud to declare that I am a good-packer.

20 June 2009 (Sat)

Last day in kangaroo land. Had a very jovial & rilex morning preparing breakfast with Hannah. French toast & mushroom soup accompanied by hot thick Milo, maklum la nak habiskan stok :). This is not staged-pose. She did make the toast herself and I handled the flipping.

Checked-out and since we still have time we simply followed signboard to Story Bridge. We made it..yippee. Them kiddos went hyper at the playground where few other families were having picnic with checkered-spread, food basket and all (sgt ideal suasananya). Called my friend, K.Shikin and she said will meet me at the airport, only to cancel last minute due to her car problems. Tho I missed them both (+ Cik CT Zu), I didnt want to push them as they were having their final exam. Plan to surpise CT also spoiled as I lost the gugel map which showed the direction right to her doorstep. Still missing them till now...

We slowly made our way to the airport as we planned to meng'DFO'kan diri kami. Pumped in some gas for Tarago to replace what we had used, we burned about AUD40++ worth of petrol in total..hmmm quiet cheap, RM120++ for 8days.

DFO is much much much better than Harbour T0wn unless you're looking for Canterbury. Pinggan mangkuk maha murah di sana. C0relle Square 16-pc dinner set = AUD49. Pyrex yg canggih manggih. Aku telan air liur je la sbb tau luggage dh full and aku x berani nk remove dari box, kang sampai KL kuar serbuk kristal !!

Another mistake that we made here was that, we should have taken our lunch in the city as eateries at DFO made us was-was still. Kami berlapar ke airport coz Tarago need to be returned by 8.00pm. All done, we checked in our luggage and dumped our tired-ass in the waiting area. Perut keroncong so we got ourselves some snack and hot choc knowing well that our -in-flight meal would be a heavy one.

Our flight back to KL was delayed due to bad weather. We had sunny days for the whole week and it rained only when we boarded our departure flight. Alhamdullillah syukur atas Rahmat-Nya.

Goodbye Australia till we come back again..most probably Sydney & Melbourne or who knows if dapat rezeki melimpah we can bundle the kids on caravan and do the Great Ocean Road ? With that, another tabung ayam created...

Back in flight, food was only served when the kids were half-asleep, closed-eyed Hannah had her briyani (we forgot to order kid's meal b4 the flight left Sydney). Hannah and her big appetite. Who would melantak at 1 in the morning except her ?? Mata pejam sumore..

Muka happy tapi mata nampak sleepy, last2 gone terus haha ini goyang pun tak bangun neh.

All went comatose and ZZzz until we arrived safely at KLIA around 5am on 21 June 2009. Our supir (BIL & wifey) waited in 2 cars. Bought some G0diva for my FIL and my TieRack.

Welcome back home everyone. Back to real world. Back to office to get more $$ and fly off to another fantasyland.

Junks that we managed to drag back. I dumped everything on the floor, took out all clothes due for cleaning and Zzzzzzz...buka mata then Zzzzzz

Thing which are worth to buy overthere..footwear Cr0cs, R0xy, B1llab0ng, Skechers, Havaianas and other beachwear brands even wetsuit for diving, but we got no time to go to that shop. Roxy stuffs were dirt cheap at DFO, sunglasses @ AUD15, Hannah's hat & socks @ AUD 5-10 and the bangles = AUD2 each. In the middle is the P.Patch boot that I couldnt exchange. Sold to fren for RM60.

Dont assume that I'm bragging or boasting about what I bought and how much it cost. It's on display coz I want others to be able to know what's available to help with their budget. One of the objectives of these entries is to assist few of my friends who are silent readers to DIY their GC trip. Some of them were motivated after knowing that I made it all on my own. When I started my 'research' (ceh..nak guna gak ayat tu, maklumla lom merasa buat research ala master) I was clueless on how much $$ to set aside for souvenirs, food etc. coz most blogs won't show what they bought & how much. They said cheap but how cheap ? So here you have it...

* Wait for my final entry. All tips, cost and most of the things u need to know will be in there. All the links, websites that I googled day and night just to make this trip a reality. I hope it's not too late for some of you. I'm now ready for a bigger challenge, who needs tour package when you can save thousands with the help of budget airlines and google (or maybe a hostel in the future).

Fuh...I've fulfilled a promise to myself for this trip. Amiin..
