Semalam on our back home from office, kitorang cancel the plan to have dinner kat mana2 kedai bcoz SIL sms-ed bgtau MIL masak sambal daging quite a lot and asked us to pick-up. Sambal peberet Man, so jatuh hukum wajib untuk singgah tapau.
Sampai2 je depan rumah, my biras opened the door and said 'Paksu meninggal' and I went like 'Paksu ? Paksu Harun ?'. Pegi bilik belakang and MIL said 'Naa...paksu dah tak dak...'. It's surreal. We just bought tickets for 8 of us including MIL & FIL to KK next April. Main agenda for them is to visit Pak Su. Now that Paksu is gone, we can only visit his grave. He's one of the most easy-going uncle from hubby's side.
He's not a healthy man but his death was not expected as he seems healthy after the last heart surgery few years back and according to Maksu, he was still walking around in the ward few hours before his last breath. It must be so hard for Maksu.
He always commute between Tepeng & KK (Maksu is Sabahan). When we were in KK last Apr, he was there checking the renovation progress of his KK house and we met for teh tarik. I listened to MIL talking to her other brother, Paksu called her before AidilAdha to inform that he's going to KK and he's not feeling well. He told MIL that this time he will be going for quite a long time. 'Kakcik, adik nak pi KK, lama lagi baru balik. Adik tak brapa sihat' something like that. I know it's cliche but it is as if he's saying goodbye to his beloved sis, trip to KK is nothing unusual to him that warrant a call to his sister but he did just that this time around.
The saddest part to me is that, 4 of his kids are here (2 in Tepeng, 2 in KL) and they called MIL to ask for advice. They're young adults and teenager. MIL deposited some $$ to pay for their flight. Hope it's enuff. As you know, last minute tickets can cost you a bomb and there are 4 of them. I hope they safely arrived before the burial.
Earlier, Paksu did mentioned to his wife, if he died in KK, just bury him there, which I think is the right thing to do. We should not burden his family just because he was born in Tepeng. The fact that Maksu most probably will stay in Sabah makes more reason to bury him there.
We'll be visiting you soon, Paksu.
