All his life, Adan had always been struggling with his nose either being blocked or runny. It gets worse in the morning after shower. We didn't take too much attention to it but I do worry when he choked on his breath during sleep. Lately the snoring gets louder & choking more frequent. One day, my immediate neighbor had her doter operated to remove her tonsil, same age as Hannah. She told me that all this while she tot her doter was having problems same as Adan and relate those to lungs until the doctor said it's ENT problem. So dalam hati terus teringat Adan's buzzing breath came from the nose instead of lungs. Decided that Adan should see specialist as well coz it could be sinus. Decide je la buatnya tidak.
But then few weeks ago, Adan had a weird problems, something like rashes on his skin somewhere around his eyes, armfold & the worst inside the earlobe but outside the ear itself. Ku ingatkan ear infection coz on 2nd day it does look a lil bit wet. His left eyeball was swollen and red with patches of rash. Kesian ini budak.
Gi jumpa GP and he suspected it could be eczema but Adan is very sure that it's not itchy at all. So I asked him to refer Adan to specialist sambil2 nak check his sinus. He wrote 'Allergic rhinitis' as the referral case.
Ubat yg dia bekalkan worked fine and all the symptoms went away after few days. Adan was on 'curfew'. No games, on device no TV for him. Konon nak bg mata rehat.
It wasn't until yesterday, 1 day before his appointment, that I googled the medical term and it got me worried. Not to mention sad coz there is no cure for it. So yesterday morning, since Adan's school declared a day off, we both set to bring him to see ENT (Paed) @ AmpangPuteri. Ramainya umat kat klinik dia & I think he's quite a reputable figure in his field as I saw a lot of newspaper clips featuring him on the wall as well as certs from reputable institutions inc. Harvard. We were from 9.30am and finally were invited in around 12noon, sampai nk abis la bateri iPad dikerjakan Adan..
Tak sempat duduk, one look at Adan he immediately spelled out all the symptoms 'mata bengkak, hidung blocked, selalu pening' etc. Spot on. Woooo sangat nujum pak belalang ini loktor woo. So after he got it explained to us, he mentioned the term 'allergic rhinitis'. Hmmm pandai jugak Dr muda kt KlinikIdzham tu sbb klu yg lain salu ckp xde pape. It's quite common but it has its own level of severity.
Since we had never consulted any specialist before, he said we should try the drugs first, for 1 month.
1. Nasonex : Mometasone furoate : Aqueuos Nasal Spray 0.05% (2 puffs each nostril, twice a day for 1 month)
2. Zyrtec : cetirizine dihydrochloride : oral solution (5ml, once a day for 1 month)
3. Afrin : Oximetazoline HCI 0.05% : decongestant nasal spray (2 puff once a day when necessary)
No. 1 & 3 are steroid
We are due to see him again on 28 April 2012 for follow-up and CT Scan.
Some of the things that he mentioned.
- there is no cure but drugs & procedure can reduce the discomfort
- his snoring was due to his swollen tonsil but the swell was not that bad. so even if he removes it, it won't solve the issue, just the snoring.
- The CT Scan will guide him on what to do next, if surgery is needed then surgery it is.
I hope he don't need a surgery no matter how minor even laser with no scar. Even looking at him injected at dentist pun buat aku tak keruan. Don't want him to feel any pain anymore. He went through so much already.

*Nota kaki kembang: kalau anak tidur malam susah bernapas mcm blocked nose tp xde hingus or pagi2 mcm org selsema yg teruk, go get treatment. I should've brought Adan long time ago. Adan ibu mintak maaf for taking it lightly & let you suffer for so long.
